Dental aesthetics in Mallorca

Dental veneers

Dental veneers are thin layers of ceramic or composite resin that are bonded to the front surface of the teeth to enhance their appearance.

They can be used to alter the shape, colour or position of the teeth.

This cosmetic treatment can harmonise your smile and is particularly useful for masking discolouration, wear or fractures that may develop over time.

What types of veneers are there?

Also known as non-invasive veneers, they do not require tooth reduction, which has made them increasingly popular. The fact that natural teeth do not need to be shaped is one of the reasons why many people today are choosing to undergo aesthetic dental treatments.

Uses of non-prep veneers

The most common cases include:
– Small or short teeth
– Permanent colour changes
– Tilted or misaligned teeth
– Small gaps between teeth

Ceramic veneers are thin porcelain laminates used to recreate the natural appearance of teeth. They also provide protection and strength comparable to natural enamel.

This treatment is often chosen by patients looking to make minor positional corrections, or to alter the anatomy, size, or colour of a tooth.

What are ceramic veneers used for?

  • Changing or improving tooth colour
  • Aligning minor misalignments
  • Correcting tooth shape
  • Reducing gum display when smiling
  • Aesthetic replacement of missing teeth
  • Closing black triangles between the gums

What are the advantages of ceramic dental veneers?

  • Stronger than natural enamel
  • Do not require specific maintenance
  • Resistant to staining from coffee, wine, tobacco, juices, tea, etc.
  • Maintain colour and shine permanently

Veneers made from composite are an excellent alternative to porcelain veneers for many dental aesthetic treatments, particularly when a more affordable and less permanent option is preferred.

What are the advantages of composite veneers?

  • Cost-effective, making them an excellent alternative to porcelain
  • Quick, offering a new smile in just one session
  • Suitable for children and adolescents still in growth

Invisible orthodontics

Here at the Dr Estanislao Planas Clinic, we use the latest generation of materials for invisible orthodontics, ensuring optimal comfort and the best possible results for our patients.
Clear aligners have transformed orthodontics by addressing key patient concerns such as aesthetics, hygiene and irritation from brackets on the lips and cheeks.

They are a prime example of how new technologies can benefit medicine. Using a virtual pre-treatment based on a 3D digital model, we can see the final result of the treatment from the patient’s initial records.

Gum reshaping

Gum reshaping is a minimally invasive, painless procedure that refines the gum contour. It creates more aesthetically pleasing margins and aligns the gum line when there are height differences due to misalignment or eruption issues affecting one or more teeth.

The treatment is also used when cavities exist below the gum line or when a tooth has fractured. Once the gums have stabilised in their new position, we will design your new smile using the most suitable technique.

Teeth whitening

Teeth whitening is a cosmetic dental treatment that lightens the colour of teeth by removing stains and discolouration. It is the most popular aesthetic dental treatment.

Whitening is most effective on extrinsic, or surface, stains. To maintain a bright colour, the treatment must be repeated periodically, as it is not a one-time procedure.

Frequently asked questions about dental aesthetics in Mallorca

The Zoom in-clinic whitening system is the most advanced dental procedure available. It is a safe, effective and quick way to whiten your teeth. In just one hour, your teeth can be dramatically whitened. However, a dental cleaning is always recommended beforehand.

The procedure is simple: First, the dentist isolates the lips and gums, leaving only the teeth exposed. Then, whitening gel containing hydrogen peroxide is applied and the Zoom light is directed at the teeth in 15-minute intervals. The session concludes with the placement of desensitising trays to minimise any discomfort over the subsequent 24 hours.

As with in-clinic whitening, a dental cleaning is recommended beforehand, and an appointment is always required to supervise the treatment.

During the initial consultation, impressions of your teeth will be taken to create a custom-made whitening tray. During the second appointment, the tray will be fitted and you will receive full instructions on how to apply the gel and how long to wear the tray for.

During follow-up visits, we will monitor your progress until the optimal whitening result is achieved.

Yes. Numerous studies and clinical trials have concluded that teeth whitening, when supervised by a DENTIST, is safe. In fact, many dentists consider teeth whitening to be the safest dental aesthetic procedure available.

The results are long-lasting. Provided you follow the dentist’s instructions, your teeth will remain whiter than before the whitening treatment.

Maintaining good oral hygiene is always advised (brushing and flossing twice a day), as is using a maintenance gel such as NiteWhite ACP, which we provide at the clinic. This product is professionally formulated to help keep your teeth white.
